Inaugural Airbus A321neo Service

May 31, 2017: Earlier this year Virgin America (VX) became the first operator to take delivery of the new Airbus A321neo (New Engine Option). N921VA arrived in Miami (MIA) in early May to begin its transfer into the airlines fleet. After several weeks of testing the aircraft made its way to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) for a test run leading up to the inaugural flight. From DC, it went to San Fransisco to be cycled into the schedule. On May 31st, the aircraft made its first revenue flight with passengers from San Fransisco (SFO) to Washington National. In addition to the paying passengers, several journalists made the round trip documenting the flight. Meanwhile in Washington, member of the media, federal government (FAA), and the airline / airport community were in attendance to see the aircraft touch down at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) for the first time.

It was an amazing opportunity to witness the historic flight with several friends and colleagues. Thank you to the local and corporate teams at Virgin America / Alaska Airlines who made this possible.
